Picked up their first album on a cassette, mostly on a whim, and it quickly became one of my favorite albums of all time. Gowanus is the follow-up that I wanted it to be, and more. Gravesend's sound manages to be downright filthy and savage, without sacrificing clarity. A bubbling, viscous pool of death metal viscera sprinkled with blackened bits of grindy goodness. Not only do I recommend this album, I recommend you purchase the first album and then listen to the two back-to-back. IAmScrum

Dérangeant, Malsain, lugubre au frontiere du Black et du Death, le plus ténébreux qui puisse se faire de la pure musique d'outre-tombe à en faire réveillé les morts !!! necro

The first Vastum album that really grabbed me. Greg Wilkinson can be credited with closing the deal on this one. Chad’s drums sound perfect. There’s lots of replay value here. I wouldn’t call Vastum unique as others have, but they do know how to keep your attention. Metallurgical Fire
